Chios is also home to some of the most visually diverse beaches in Greece.
Mavra Volia, perhaps the island’s most famous beach, is known for its distinctive black volcanic pebbles and crystal-clear waters created by ancient volcanic activity. The landscape feels dramatic, raw, and unlike anywhere else in the Aegean.
Further south, Vroulidia offers a more secluded setting surrounded by steep cliffs and turquoise waters, while Komi combines a relaxed atmosphere with one of the island’s longest sandy beaches — particularly loved during the summer months for its easy rhythm and seaside energy.
Rather than large organized resorts, the coastline of Chios feels more natural and understated, allowing visitors to experience the island at a slower pace.
